If you want to restore the ability of Congress and the states to regulate the raising and spending of money intended to influence elections, sign this petition to support the Democracy Amndment Resolution in the 2020 session of the Maryland General Assembly.

When the Maryland General Assembly passes the Democracy Amendment Resolution, Maryland will petition the US Congress under Article V of the US Constitution to call a convention of state representatives for the sole purpose of drafting an amendment to address the growing influence of unlimited spending in political campaigns.  Under the US Constitution, once 34 states pass matching resolutions, Congress must call the limited convention prescribed in the state petitions.   Five states have already petitioned the Congress about money in politics, and each additional state that does so increases pressure on the Congress to act under it's own authority to draft an amendment.

When you sign this petition, an email will be sent to the state legislators who represent your specific Maryland voting district asking them to support  the Democracy Amendment Resolution. With your help, we have an excellent chance of passing this legislation in the 2020 Maryland General Assembly.

It's especially important that your state legislators in Annapolis know you want to get big money out of political campaigns.  If the Maryland General Assembly passes this bill in the 2020 session, Maryland legislators will demonstrate strong leadership by exercising the authority delegated to them by the US Constitution.  Sign this petition to help make Maryland the sixth state calling for an amendment to the US Constitution so that all citizens can have equal access to the ballot and an equal say in governance.
